Mary is a research scientist, academic and educator who is internationally recognised as a world leader in the fundamental underpinnings of the developmental origins of health and disease to enhance the quality of life for mothers and their infants.
She was Professor of Physiology at University of Melbourne for 24 years where she held senior executive roles and is an accomplished research fundraiser (>$12 million) and respected researcher (~200 publications, supervised 28 PhD students).
Since retiring, a portfolio of Board Director positions (GAICD) has been built whilst remaining research active by retaining national and international Honorary positions. Known as a compassionate, inspiring and sought-after mentor and role model positively influencing and transforming the pathways and careers of researchers; recognised with prestigious awards at the university and by the Australian Government.
